A Victorian Irish Tara brooch, pierce-decorated with formal Celtic designs, the back stamped Waterhouse, Dublin, 6.5cm wide, and another similar gilt Tara brooch, the back incised with runic motifs, and having registration of design lozenge for 1849, 5.8cm wide. (2)

Modelled after the Tara brooch, a Celtic brooch of the pseudo-pennanular type made in c.700 AD discovered in August 1850, now in the National Museum of Ireland
