A late 19th/early 20th century diamond, half pearl and enamel panel brooch, designed as two conjoined old-cut diamond set hearts, each with half pearl centre, surmounted by a red and white enamel heightened crown with diamond set foliate surround, (half pearls untested for origin), total diamond weight approximately 0.60ct, length 2.5cm
Surface wear and shallow blemishes to half pearls. Scattered losses, chips and surface wear to enamel. Three very small stones are missing to the crown (difficult to see to the unaided eye). Diamonds have a lively appearance but with variable colour and clarity, some stones with chips/surface-reaching fractures, mineral inclusions and greyish or yellowish colour tints, estimated I to M colour and SI1 to P2/P3 clarity (due to chips), assessed mounted. Signs of general wear to mount, with patchy thinning to the edges of the settings and claws, and with tarnishing throughout. Solder joins are present at junctions within the mount, presumed to be part of manufacture. The reverse has a hinged loop fitting and detachable brooch pin that is currently functioning. Metal standard is untested but possibly a gold/silver combination. Gross weight approx. 6gm.
