Michael began his career with Phillips Auctioneers in London in 1977, moving to Phillips' Oxford saleroom in 1982. He was subsequently promoted to saleroom manager there, and appointed Director.
Following the merger of Phillips with Bonhams in 2001, Michael was appointed Director of Bonhams Oxford, and continued to run their saleroom there until their recent cessation of sales.
With 47 years of experience in the business Michael has amassed a wealth of knowledge and expertise right across the board, with a particular interest in Asian art and rugs.
