An 18th century atlas containing fifty three maps, mostly hand-coloured and mounted in an 18th century folio volume (55 x 40cm) bound in half leather with marbled boards (boards detached). Maps extend from the Ottoman lands in Europe, including Ukraine, through Hungary, Poland, Prussia, Bohemia, Austria, German principalities, Alsatia, Luxembourg to Holland and Flanders. Cartographers and publishers include N. Visscher, Thomas Jeffrey, G. De l'Isle, M. Sentier, and J. B. Homann.
Maps, some three and four fold are numbered in ink. Map 2, showing the province of Zeeland has the book stamp of George II's younger son William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (Commander-in-chief of British forces in Germany at the start of the Seven Years War)
