A mid 19th century cameo bangle, the oval shell cameo carved to depict the portrait profile of a bearded gentleman, signed Saulini F possibly for Tommaso Saulini, to a hinged tapered bangle applied with textured scrolling foliage, cased, cameo dimensions 4.95cm length x 3.65cm width, bangle inner diameter 6.55cm

Please note that it is not known whether the signature is original to the cameo or later applied. We are therefore unable to confirm whether the cameo was carved by Saulini.

Several hairline fractures to cameo, with surface wear throughout and small nicks/chips to high points of the carved decoration. The cameo mount and bangle have general surface wear, scuffs and nicks/chips, with occasional shallow dings/dents and patchy tarnishing/staining, with traces of verdigris. The clasp is tight fitting. The reverse of the cameo mount and an area to the bangle interior have some deep scuffs/filing marks. The cameo mount and bangle are untested as gold/gilt metal and could be a combination of both, or a combination of different metal standards. The bangle tapers in width from 3.65cm at the shoulders to 2.05cm at the back and the cameo mount measures 5.55cm in length. Gross weight approximately 62.5gm. The case has considerable wear, with tears and losses to the interior lining and part of the fastener is missing.
