The sapphire has a dark steely-blue hue and a near opaque appearance, containing feather, fissure and mineral inclusions, with a chip to the centre and surface-reaching fractures. Sapphire dimensions approximately 9.6mm length x 8mm width x 3.5mm depth. Diamonds are slightly graduated, varying from approximately 0.015ct to 0.03ct each, with a bright appearance, occasional stones with small nicks/chips. Estimated VS1 to SI2 clarity and H to K colour, assessed mounted. Emeralds and rubies are well matched, most containing fissures, feathers and mineral inclusions, some stones with surface-reaching fractures. All have surface wear, with occasional nicks/small chips, and measure approximately 3mm to 3.5mm diameter each. The brooch mount has surface wear and patchy tarnishing, the pin is mis-shapen but functioning. Metal standard is untested. Depth of setting approximately 1.35cm. Gross weight approximately 10gm.
